Sharyoof Village

The Sharyoof Field takes its name from the town Sharyoof, situated a few kilometres away in the main wadi floor, in the direction of Seiyun. Over the eyars, Dove has maintained close ties with this local community through a combination of dialogue and direct support for local projects. Dove and their partners, DNO (ASA), Petrolin and MOE have contributed to a number of infrastructure projects as follows:

• Contribution to the rebuilding of the local school.
• Seed funding for the Social Development Fund.
• 1 Year Rental of alternative buildings during construction of main school buildings.
• Annual School Teacher Transport Subsidy.
• Wadi Hadramaut Teachers Syndicate - Summer Activities program.

Hekma Village

The village of Hekma is the closest settlement to the Main CPF. It is located in the Wadi floor adjacent to the main pipeline road. Further removed from the main town of Seiyun, Hekma village had no indigenous health-care facilities until Dove funded the construction of the new Clinic. The clinic was opened in July 2006.

Seasonal rains in the wadi stimulate local agriculture but can cause damage if the rains are heavier than normal. Dove funded a scheme to protect agriculture and maximise the use of this vital natural resource. A small dam was engineered with a run=off irrigation system to channel the flood waters directly to the fields for cultivation.

Other projects also include:

• Annual school teacher transportation subsidy.
• Purchase of computer equipment and sports materials

Sana’a

In the capital city of Sana’a, Dove adopted a local charitable organisation. Dove then funded the construction of a new laundry facility at the Girls Orphanage.

Site Visits

Dove takes great pride in the quality of the Sharyoof CPF facilities. It is therefore always a pleasure to take local “tourists” round the site. Visitors have ranged from such luminaries as His Excellency, the Oil Minister and the Joint Operations Committee, to the local schools and Universities.
